How the reference radius works

A useful visual. An honest calculation.

For these standalone machines, we divide the listed volume rating by the room’s ceiling height. If a separate area rating is lower, that area is the limit. We then draw a circle with the same area.

Reference area = rated m³ ÷ ceiling height
Reference radius = √(reference area ÷ π)

Example: 1,000 m³ ÷ 3 m = 333.3 m², equivalent to a 10.3 m radius. A larger capacity produces a larger circle; a taller ceiling produces a smaller one.

The shading is sampled inside your room and checks straight paths around corners. It does not model airflow, concentration, door leakage or scent preference. Suggestions try to reach the drawn area and avoid doorway markers; they cannot establish the correct equipment count or a safe installation location.

Open doors and ventilation can change distribution. HVAC systems follow ducted service zones and are excluded from these circles. Read manufacturer guidance on room conditions .
